About Chasing Salamanders

Each summer my family spends a week camping in the North Carolina mountains alongside a rocky mountain river.  We spend hours knee-deep in the cool water, lifting rocks to uncover salamanders hiding beneath.

Chasing salamanders is a fun activity, and it is a metaphor for my approach to life.

  • Live in the moment.
  • Minimize distraction.

Chasing salamanders allows us to:

  • Play outside.
  • Connect with nature and be a part of it.
  • Connect with each other.
  • Have fun together.

Camping for a week focuses us on:

  • What is essential in life.
  • How much we usually live with that is not essential.
